Hypomer Eye Gel
Indication
Dry eye conditions, management of stable tear film, lubricant eye gel for wearers of all types of contact lenses.
Adult Dose
Ophthalmic Dry eye Adult: Instill 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s), as needed. T he frequency of administration depends on the severity of the condition. On average, one drop is administered 1-3 times daily. If needed, Gel may be administered more frequently.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity.
Mode of Action
Hypromellose stabilises and thickens the precorneal tear film and prolongs the tear film breakup time thereby promoting corneal wetting. It also lubricates and protects the eye. Carbomers are used topically as tear substitutes in the management of dry eye. They are also used in manufacturing of pharmaceuticals as suspending agents, emulsifiers or binding agents.
Precaution
If eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye are noticed, Hypomer Gel must be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. If Hypomer gel colour is change or becomes cloudy, the product should not be used. It should never be injected subconjunctivally, nor should be directly introduced into the anterior chamber of the eye. It is not intended to be used during surgery.
Side Effect
Burning, stinging, allergic reactions, red eyes. Transient blurring of vision.
