PRESENTATION
Gastrocon-R Suspension: Pink colored and aniseed flavored suspension; each 10 ml suspension contains Sodium Alginate BP 500 mg,
Sodium Bicarbonate BP 267 mg & Calcium Carbonate BP 160 mg.
INDICATIONS
Gastrocon-R is indicated for the treatment of heartburn, including heartburn of pregnancy, dyspepsia associated with gastric
reflux, hiatus hernia, reflux esophagitis, regurgitation and all cases of epigastric and retrosternal distress where the
underlying cause is gastric reflux.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Adults and child 12 years and over: The usual dose is 10-20 ml Gastrocon-R (Sodium Alginate, Sodium Bicarbonate & Calcium
Carbonate) suspension to be taken after meals and at bedtime.
Child 6 to 12 years: Should be given only on medical advice. The usual dose is 5-10 ml Gastrocon-R (Sodium Alginate, Sodium
Bicarbonate & Calcium Carbonate) suspension to be taken after meals and at bedtime.
Child under 6 years: Not recommended.
Elderly: No dose modification is required for this age group.
Method of Administration: Oral.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS, WARNINGS ETC.
Contra-indication: Gastrocon-R Suspension is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Sodium Alginate, Sodium
Bicarbonate & Calcium Carbonate. Warning & Precautions: If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should
be reviewed. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with congestive cardiac failure, hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis and
renal impairment. Drug interactions: A time-interval of 2 hours should be considered between Gastrocon-R intake and the
administration of other medicinal products, especially tetracyclines, digoxine, fluoroquinolone, iron salt, ketoconazole,
neuroleptics, thyroid hormones, penicillamine, beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propanolol), glucocorticoid, chloroquine and
biphosphonates (diphosphonates) and estramustine. Use in pregnancy & lactation: Gastrocon-R suspension can be given in pregnant
and lactating women.

Overdose: Symptomatic treatment should be given. The patient may notice abdominal distension.

Store in a cool (below 30º C) and dry place, protected from light.
