Presentation
Gastrocon-A Tablet: Off-white to cream colored, round, flat, beveled edges and peppermint flavored chewable tablet having
engraved on one side; each tablet contains Sodium Alginate BP 500 mg & Potassium Bicarbonate BP 100 mg.
Gastrocon-A Suspension: Off-white to cream colored and peppermint flavored suspension; each 10 ml suspension contains Sodium
Alginate BP 1000 mg & Potassium Bicarbonate BP 200 mg.
Indications
Gastrocon-A is indicated for the treatment of symptoms resulting from the reflux of acid, bile and pepsin into the esophagus such
as acid regurgitation, heartburn, indigestion for instance, after gastric surgery, as a result of hiatus hernia, during pregnancy,
accompanying reflux esophagitis, including symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux such as hoarseness and other voice disorders, sore
throats and cough. Gastrocon-A can also be used to treat the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux during concomitant treatment with
or following withdrawal of acid suppressing therapy.
Dosage and administration
The dosage described according to the product and patient age group are following-

Method of Administration: Oral. Gastrocon-A should be taken after three major meals and at bedtime.
Contra-indications, warnings etc.
Contra-indications: Gastrocon-A is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate.
Warning & precautions: If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should be reviewed. Care needs to be
taken in treating patients with congestive cardiac failure, hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis and renal impairment. Drug
interactions: A time-interval of 2 hours should be considered between Gastrocon-A intake and the administration of other medicinal
products, especially tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates and estramustine.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Gastrocon-A can be given in pregnant and lactating women.

Overdose: Symptomatic treatment should be given. The patient may notice abdominal distension.
Pharmaceutical precautions
Store in a cool (below 30º C) and dry place, protected from light.

Gastrocon-A Tablet: Carton contains 30 chewable tablets in HDPE container.
Gastrocon-A Suspension: Carton containing 200 ml suspension in glass bottle along with a measuring cup.
