The scientific name is Macrobrachium rosenbergii, also known as the giant river prawn or giant freshwater prawn. Golda Prawn is high in omega-3s, low in mercury, and contains low levels of saturated fat. It is rich in protein, vitamins A & D, and minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, and zinc. In Bangladesh, it is widely cultivated in regions such as Khulna, Jessore, and Sathkhira, and is known locally as Golda Chingri.
